Trip to Germany

Hey Q-listers:

Graham and I and the boy are going to Poland for a wedding later this
spring (April). We are flying into Frankfurt and driving to Sandomierz,
Poland. (We will be using a GPS mostly for navigation, so we want to
stick to major roads).

Though it is out of the way we would like to go to the Audi museum in
Ingolstadt. Any suggestions for sightseeing/food/beer in the area? Who
has been? What are the must see things?

Google maps suggests driving up through Dresden. Would also love any
advice for anyone who has been there. This is my first trip to Germany
and none of us speaks the language so we may be limited to things that
are directed at tourists rather than super authentic local experiences.
We probably will only spend a couple or three days total in Germany.

Sadly it looks like most of the big car rental places won't let you take
an Audi to Poland (I guess they don't care as much if the Fiat Panda
gets stolen). Does anyone have any experience with this? Obviously if
we could get one to drive we would do it. One idea we had was returning
the budget rental car a day early, renting an Audi and driving to
Ingolstadt and back with it. This would be more time, more gas, etc.,
but it might be worth it, especially since there a whole load of Audis
that aren't even available in the states. Any tips for car rental etc.
would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jenny Allan
