As a 10 year veteran of dozens of hours of urq video at our Gruppe-q Events at the Steamboat Ice Track, I'm pretty sure I can add some insight here.? Urq's don't handle camera mounts well without a serious brace.? I used the headrest mount, and found the seats were too shaky, even with big kids in the seat anchoring them down.? So far the best video is the camera is one a Steamboat participant attached to the outside of my 83 on windshield this year.? This camera (wide angle version)

Email me privately, and I can forward you the link to the video we shot with this camera mounted to the windshield.? You can mount multiple cameras, and grab sound, the image stabilization is second to none.? I suspect next year, this will be the standard bill of fare for on/in car video.? The biggest problem you have on ice tracks is the contrast between dark interior and white noise reflection from ice.? I suspect that a mount inside the car shooting in car (dark) video only, and time-base-control video outside the car is going to be your best bet.?
Image stabilization is the biggest issue, then the contrast white noise is significant to grab any high quality video.? Then the third issue is aiming an interior camera to catch interior and exterior shots.? I don't see this being accomplished without a wide angle camera with image stabilization and some serious white correction built into it (read: regular video cameras won't do).? The good news is the camera's above are inexpensive and built for this duty, and IMO, do really well at what you are trying to accomplish.
Cheers and my .02

Mr Richard,
Try the seat back mount and use one of the small ratchet straps that you use
to keep the Thule Roof Box on the Saab shut (following the "Loss of Coats
Incident") in combination with the spare seatbelt buckle that you use to
install Estelle's baby seat. Use that to put some tension on the seatback
using the rear seatbelt mountings. That should nail the rattling seatback
issue.
Remember to offset the camera mount enough to clear your helmet clad head.
If you are planning to film with your brother in the car, remember that you
both ate WAY too much spinach as kids and as a result probably never needed
Miami Vice shoulder pads in the '80s.
If you end up buying a cheapo/$10 tripod head from Wal-Mart, could you get
me one to while you are there?
Geraint

Thanks to all, DIY a mount seems possible, but the seatback of the right
seat is very rattling and I guess my driving style (LOTS of scandinavian
flicks, in fact, too many I am sure) would make my own seat move too much.
So the solution might be to torque it tightly to the floor with a strap
that attach to the rear seat belts.
Any tips to attach a camera outside the car towards the rear ? I want to
hear the sound from the exhaust too (to follow up on a previous tread...).

I made one like that for my car except I used a longer bit that spans both
seats for a little extra stability... and I pointed the U-bolts backwards
;-). I picked up a cheap ($10 tops) tripod at Walmart and pulled the head
off of it to use to mount the camera.
