headlamp issue

Mike;
Sounds like a bad ballast. I've had similar issues with my HID lamps. If the igniter is bad, the lamp will flicker but won't light. If the bulb is bad, the lamp changes colour, gets dim, and eventually won't even flicker when you turn it on. When the ballast goes, the lamp will flicker but won't stay lit. I usually swap components side to side to see which one transfers the problem to the other light. I've had bulbs and igniters fail but have yet to lose a ballast (on the OEM system anyway; I lost 2 ballasts on the aftermarket system I had on my S4).
Good luck!

New year greetings to all, and with the new year a new problem……
One of my gas discharges lamps is misbehaving, some times it strikes and then goes out, sometimes it works for a while and then goes out, always it recovers if you switch off and back on, generally in less than five attempts.
I’m hoping it’s some component going marginal in the electronics or a bad solder joint so I’m going to pull it and inspect. Anyone come across this before and can offer some pointers?
Cheers
