Bilstein front insert question

Not claiming to be one of the "experts", but I seem to recall 2 things. The reason that the shaft diameter is so incredibly large is that the bilsteins are an inverted design. the small dia. tube is inside.
The other thing is that they have internal bump stops.....
HTH, and as always, someone correct me if I'm wrong...

Suspension experts! Sorry to interrupt the Fiat/Fierro/Mr.Two love fest
(which, BTW, I am enjoying). I sold another shop a set of Bilstein
strut inserts for an S6 (P36-0370, and they have some questions for
which I don't have answers. The shock tube fits the strut, but the
diameter of the shaft is substantially larger, and the available bump
stops are made to fit a shaft that's more than a half inch smaller. Is
there a bump stop available, or are they eliminated in this
application? Are these the strut inserts people use? If not, what
should we have purchased? As always, I will be sincerely appreciative
of any help rendered. As I'm not on the S-car list, perhaps someone
could put the question to them on my behalf ................. TIA! John
