For some reason I neglected to CC the main list on this announcement. Hopefully everyone who might be interested got the message via the urq or events groups on Audifans, but just in case I wanted to forward this announcement to the main list.

For those who may not be aware of the nomenclature, the “UPG” is the “Urquattro Preservation Group” … a group which I believe was created a couple years ago to help preserve the urquattro. It is not affiliated with any established club. You do not need to be an urquattro owner to participate in the activities.

I will not spam this group with updates on the event, if you are interested in remaining abreast of the details please send an e-mail to me directly and I’ll put you on the DL. Please do not hesitate to contact me even if you may not be able to attend, sending me an e-mail will not be a commitment of any kind on your part.

Enough details have been worked through to where I feel comfortable announcing a Northern California Urquattro Preservation Group event to be held on the weekend of the Monterey Historic Races (8/14-8/16). It is not going to be anything approaching the scale of the event the Colorado folks put together in 2008, but as Javad rightly advised there's nothing wrong with starting small. This will be ten years after the Historics event where the featured marque was Audi ... and it will be the first time I personally have been back to the Monterey Historics since that event.

As of today there are two activities planned, one being a drive to the Monterey Historics on Saturday morning (8/15); we'll need to start early as we didn't have the details organized in time to set up a corral, and with Porsche being the featured marque it will be well attended. On Sunday 16 August there’ll be a "quattro drive" in the hills of the east of the San Francisco Bay, which will end at 034 Motorsports who is sponsoring a BBQ and offering low cost use of the dyno ... drooling over all the goodies 034 Motorsports has is free ... ;-)

More details will be available as we firm up the plans, I wanted to give as much advance notice as possible in the event there are folks from outside the area who would like to attend. Depending upon interest and volunteers we may be able to put together more events. I was thinking that we may want to have a get together Friday evening to prepare for the parade to Laguna Seca the following morning. If there are any who would like to lend a little time to setting up the final details we will certainly appreciate it.

If any of you might be able to attend, please send an e-mail to me so that I can start to get a feeling for scale. If you have any ideas on the events as described or for something in addition to them let me know. I'm thinking that I may use the urquattro yahoo group to make information available.
