PS Pump issues 1998 A4 v6

Quick question everyone,

 I have a 1998 a4 v6 and I've decided the Power Steering Pump has to be 
changed after changing the fluid 2 times and trying to problem solve the 
hard and loud steering. I have a 1997 a4 1.8T donor car with a blown engine. 
The power steering pumps look identical except for the pulleys. Is it safe 
to say they are the same? Should I just get a rebuilt one. Also, I've always 
had good luck with buying used at the junk yard I don't mind going there to 
get one, but what years are compatible? I'd like to get as new as 
possible... Anyone out there BTDT?
