Dear Bride was a public defender for a while - if you don't have money to afford a lawyer, the court 
will appoint one for you.

She'd often come home shaking her head at the sheer brilliance of her unhappy clients.


Idiot #1 snatches a purse, runs into a dark city park - 15 seconds later he's in handcuffs.

"How'd you catch me so fast? It's dark, you shunta bin able to see me!"

Idiot was wearing a pair of the sneakers that had LEDs that flashed red with every step he took.

Can't help ya, son, y'all are goin' down . . .



Idiot #2 was considerably nastier. He conspired to rob a fast food joint with the help of some of 
his equally intelligent buddies, and someone died . . . serious stuff.

"Well I wore a mask, no one should have been able to recognize me." (five more years)

"We had cell phones for a lookout." (five more years)

"Well I borrowed the gun, it wasn't actually mine." (ten more years)

"Yeah, I did it, but I didn't mean to hurt nobody." (confession)

We get to support this slimeball for the rest of his life - but he's off the streets and is going to 
stay that way permanently.



Now she's in private practice, which means she gets paid directly by the client (sometimes).

Idiot #3 gets into an accident, flees the scene of accident with injuries (fortunately not serious). 
Promptly arrested, convinces his brother to stake the brother's house in lieu of $25K bail.

Idiot now flees the country, vanishes, leaving his wife, his two kids, and the brother with his 
house at risk (idiot jumped bail), and the bondsman is suing the brother for the $25K threatening to 
take the house.

Except the house is in BOTH names, and the bondsman didn't bother to find that out - and it takes 
BOTH people on the title to encumber the property, the bondsman only got one signature.

Seems there are morons on both sides in this one . . .



And sometimes she does things that make me just insanely proud of her.

Guy is sent to state prison sentenced to 15 years for allegedly exposing himself to his 
girl-friend's 14 year old daughter.

Unskilled, illiterate, ethnic minority, he's got very, very little going for him, and he'll have 
even less when he (eventually) gets out. Plus a prison record as a sexual offender. (Maybe he should 
run for congress?)

After some investigation, it turns out the girlfriend and her daughter set him up - GF was going to 
get even with him for breaking up with her, and they boasted about it - "got that (blank) real good!!!"

Resolution - he's out, they're in, for how long I don't know but it probably isn't long enough.



I do tell her not to worry, her business is very, very secure, if these clowns had any brains, no 
one would need her and she might have to work for a living. Einstein said the two most common 
elements in the universe are hydrogen and stupidity. I don't know about the hydrogen, but he was 
dead on about the stupidity.
