Unintended acceleration

I was just thinking about this feature a bit. So the way it works is
the button only turns the car on if the car senses the magic "key" in
the driver's pocket, right?

Does it turn off if, say, the driver just gets out and walks away? IOW,
does the "key" have to be present for the car to keep running?

Because if so, throwing it out the window would work to turn the engine
off...
