These are sealed bearings, there is no greasing them. Honestly this  
sounds more like driving too long on a bad bearing. That's the only  
time I've seen them damage hubs or spindles.

Many times I've seen where someone drives the same car daily over the  
course of a bearing going bad the noise comes on so progressively that  
it's not noticed until it's too late.
