OEM Ignition Switch Modules

I have pictures of the poorly designed factory switches Audi used in the
V8Qs (perhaps others) ... which subsequently cause the key mechanism to
break. While I too tend to prefer getting the same replacement parts the
dealer sells it isn't always a guarantee that the problem will be resolved.
Another similar situation is coolant thermostats ...

In fact, given what I've seen on the V8, I'd recommend everyone who has a
car in that vintage pull the switch module to check to see if it is broken
and may already be wearing the switch mechanism. I have pictures, just
never managed to make a full on presentation of what I've learned. I can
send copies of the pix to people who are interested. My cars are both '91
5-speed V8As, I suspect other models of similar vintage may have a similar
issue. The issue is that the spring which returns the switch to a reference
position is so strong that it fractures the housing and skews the axis of
the switch slightly.

Genuine Audi OEM is the only way to go with ignition switches.
