Can I use neatsfoot oil to re-hydrate the leather followed by a cleaner/conditioner and then a finish type product such as Doc Baileys "leather black." I am open to any and all sugestions from the list.

 From Wikipedia:
"If used on important historical objects, neatsfoot oil (like other leather
dressings) can oxidize with time and actually contribute to embrittling.
It also may leave an oily residue that can attract dust. "

I've heard good things about Leatherique.

That said, I just use a leather conditioner, Lexol I think, picked up at
the FLAPS. It goes on nice, but can leaves a tacky feeling that needs to
be buffed out.
