Exactly, but in my case I get no codes. Kind of stumped here. I have
always done all of the work on my Audi's including major work ( engine
transplants, head gaskets, familiar with pulling codes, etc.).
I think in the end I will find that the hesitation problem is in the
ignition system ( knock sensor, ignition module, hall sensor).
Additionally, I do not know if the code issue is related to the hesitation
problem, but it seems like a logical place to start.

Just to reiterate Connect wires to under dash connectors, turn ignition "on"
hold the two "ground" wire together for 4 seconds,
Release
Codes will flash
ground wires again for next code.
