Wheel Shipping Costs

Shipped just last month FedEx Ground from TX to MI; 4 17" wheels in two
boxes; under $90.  One wheel to CA; $26 and change.

And FedEx will box them up for you.  I did it myself, but it would have been
under $15 for each of the two wheel boxes to let them hassle with
them...which might not have been a bad idea, as it was near 100F while I was
wrapping and boxing them...which is why I asked.

What is the average cost to ship a couple of wheels cross country, or
are there better options than others? I did a  quick calculation at
50lbs. on UPS.com  and wound up with a cost of $250, can that be
right?
