My later (89 200q) type 44 could. Don't know about the pre-89 ones. As far
as I know, all of the VAG products I ever spent time with (from 1970 Beetle
to my Mom's 2001.5 Passat, multiple VW's and Audi's in between) have all
been able to also. I think it's a European thing, since all of the non-VAG
Euro cars I've spent time with (from a '64 Peugeot 504 through Taka's V70R)
also can do it. The only cars I found consistently that didn't were all
American.
