Weird seats

I'm not buying, but what is up with the front seats in this
'98 Cabrio?

They don't look like Audi seats. I'm curious about the integrated
seat belts.  Did Audi change seats for '98? Did they reinforce the
floor pan to take the extra force?  Or are seats these out of
something else, and your forward motion in a crash will rip the
seat out of the floor.
