They are- the Cabrio had very odd looking seats, and yes, the seatbelt
goes through 'em.

In general, you don't drive a cabriolet for safety.  Last I heard (a
while ago) ACNA instructors had a right to decline to instruct a
student with a convertible/cabriolet, no debate and no questions
asked.  Student and instructor are required to have arm restraints,
you have to clear a line between the rollbars and the windshield by 2
inches with your helmet on, etc.
