While not having read the article, a few months ago I was driving a new
Passat with the quasi-keyless ignition (put fob in hole in dash, it
becomes the "start" button) and it is completely non-intuitive what to
do to kill the engine. Probably the same as what it takes to shut it
down normally, whatever that was...
Sure, I'd expect the "owner" (primary and secondary drivers?) to read
the manual (haha sure I would), but what about short term drivers,
people borrowing the car, etc.? It was complicated enough to show me
how to start it and how to use the parking brake.
