Ask Martin Pajak: he has a 5 cylinder 20V normally aspirated 4000Q in his
fleet : martin at quattro.ca

Also, I also know a guy (Steeve Rombotis, from Rombotis Tuning in Montreal
QC) that dropped a 1.8T in a 90Q, and that cars works beautifully. If you
want to reach him, the easiest is to shoot an email to Brady Moffat at his
shop (info at dynodoc.ca) 'cause the guy works in the same building, about 30
ft from Brady.

To my eye, the 1.8T is the way to go.
But to my ear, the 2.3 20V NA wins without contest.

My favorite is the 1.8T, chiefly because of access in the engine
compartment. I understand the primary difficulty lies in the transmission bolt
pattern, fabrication of mounts is assumed. The price of a 10V turbo can't be
beat. In my musings, I have thought of moving the turbo out of the engine
compartment.

I have been following a thread on an Audi board about installing a Chevy LT
in a B5, seems that it is lighter than the Audi V8. It seems to go easily,
and a complete adapter kit with adapter, starter relocation, flywheel and
clutch (Audi 200) is available. A bit more power and loss of compartment
space than I want. Also, my car is only FWD.
