If its anything like the B2 4000, its indeed bolted on in that fashion.
When I was stripping a sunroof assembly off of a parts car about 2-3
screws per side held the whole thing to the roof and I pulled it out in
one piece. Just be careful sliding it out, don't want to scratch the
paint on the panel. Now putting it back together... well thats not so
easy. You have to bolt the tracks back in on their own along with the
cables and then play with the rain trays and sunroof panel per the
Bentley. A royal PITA.

Its likely either the guide cables binding and/or the tracks need
serious cleaning.

Everything always works fine on the test drive. My 4000 quattro was fine
until I brought it home. It then preceeded to dump all the oil out of
its struts in my driveway, pee brake fluid out of the regulator, and rip
both CV boots after the check cleared. Just don't jinx yourself with
that heater core.
