Grasp wallet firmly and RUN, FLEE as *fast* as your Quattro will carry you . . .

Extended warranties are among the top complaints to the FTC.

"the finance person said" has NO weight whatsoever when it is time to pay the bill or in court,
where these things often wind up.

"I never said that"

"He misunderstood me"

"Sorry, it isn't in the contract, the salesman has been reprimanded (for the 4,500th time today)"

"Sorry, he's not with us any more"

Excuses as to why you won't get paid are legion. The only common thread is that you won't get paid.

"Engine block, clutch, transmission case etc. are covered" - Rear main seal fails, oil soaks clutch,
warranty might cover the clutch plate but since the problem was caused by something NOT covered
under the extended warranty (the rear main seal) the LABOR isn't covered - the seal costs $10, the
labor to change it is two grand . . . ka-ching . . .

These things are SCAMS - right down there with p*n*s extenders, the air travel insurance you buy at
the airport, and Nigerian 419 scams. They use FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt) to hustle the
automotively insecure into spending a LOT of money for essentially nothing. When your car is busted
and the mechanic wants $6,578.45 to give it back, that's not the optimal time to argue the niceties
of some scam extended warranty policy's whereases and wherefores.

The people who sell these policies are vying for first place to go up against the wall come the
revolution. It is going to be a very crowded wall, we may have to make them take a number for faster
service ;-)
