Ignition Switch Replacement - now Cabriolet

The failure I'm used to is the key doesn't spring back to the "run" position, which can leave your starter engaged. But it sounds similar enough that I'd say "Yes". The electrical portion of the switch is plastic where it connects to the keyed portion of the switch. The plastic breaks, so the key doesn't spring back to the "run" position. (But if you're new to Audis, you'll be surprised to learn that on the older cars the radio is not tied to the ignition switch for power; it can run without the key in the ignition. So maybe you don't have a problem.)

All...I have a '96 Cabriolet with the same symptoms.  Ignition switch will not return to normal off position, leaving the radio on until switched off manually.  Will I need the electrical portion of the switch or the lock cylinder when replacing it.  The instructions indicate that I will need only the electrical portion and won't have to change my key.  Am I reading this right?
