Cabriolet - audis - fun

The whole Audi community are now on notice. I'm done with school and my fingers being ninjaized over the last four years are ready, with nothing else to do but rebuild the tranny in my A8 (I cant afford that at the moment) and are on the offensive!
A U Nick! (that's Audi U)
But seriously, and I just finished my MBA, not that I'm superior to you, I've just been drinking since noon!
Different Audis have their strong and week points.
I've had about 4-5 turbo Quattro type 44s in Colorado, some chipped and strapped and some not.
I've driven a lot of sport cars at altitude.
Had a friend that worked at a premier independent in Fort Collins, CO
He always had something laying around.
Z3, 850i, Espree, 911, 911 convertible....something else I'm sure, but I bought my first Audi from him.
'87 5000 turbo Quattro, black with the pimp daddy mirror on the bottom (exterior) and Alactara interior, it even had a factory Audi radar dectector. I think I paid him $3k and it had about 125k miles on it. Drove it to over 220K
Even the stock 5ktqs were great.
I remember coming out of Boulder one night, last light east of Longmont heading for I25, almost at a stop when two old school Cameros squealed tire at the light.
I was like "HELL NO!" I'm not sure if it was the advantage of the rolling start or the turbo advantage, but it scared the hell out of them that not only was I keeping up but trying to run up between them! ( they were in my way!)
After having my '97 A8 a year back home in Alabama and going back to Colorado, its amazing the edge that a forced induction engine has. Its also amazing the power a 4.2 40valve (the wifes A8L) can put down close to sea level.
I get the weight issue between a 4 and an 8.
I get the aspiration issues.
But for most daily driving, in the 5-7 year old car market, the A8 is going to be the better buy in most cases I would bet....if you can do your own mantanice.
I even bet a R8 V8 supercharged, would spank a R8 V10's ass all over Colorado! Plus save you a few ten thousand!
And for my final argument.
Pack your wife, all her shit for a two week trip, on a 1500 mile drive, all your computer crap ( her stuff is shit, my stuff is crap) all the dogs stuff (two Jack Russell Terriost), plus two empty kegs, and illegal fireworks for Colorado and make the return trip with Christmas presents, two full kegs of New Belgium beer and get 26-27 mpg the the whole trip and feel like your sitting in a Lazy-Boy the whole way!
A8/L baby! :-P

Err, not to be inflamatory, that didn't sound like it was meant to.

Lol. Although the S8 and A4 are both audi's they are soooo different cars. The S8 is great and all, but the thrill of the acceleration is far offset by its weight. Not that the A4 is much better but really, but again different cars.
It might bother you that a 4cyl vert of mine can do about 1-1.3s better on the 0-60 than the S8.
