Detecting the source(s) of oil leakage

Chris,

 

First off, would suggest cleaning/degreasing the engine and suspect areas. 

 

Not sure if the front of the AAN block and covers are the same as 3b's and
10v's? I've seen numerous instances of the front lower tin bolts (that
thread into oil passages) with no sealant that have leaked a surprising
amount of oil. This sort of leak will travel/spread to the point that most
of the lower portions of the block, trans, etc, will be oil soaked. 

 

Any oil leaks in this or surrounding areas can compromise your TB. 

 

Never personally used the dye method.
