Well, blue smoke generally means oil is burning in the combustion chamber. You didn't mention the mileage, and you
would not necessarily see a huge decrease in oil level quickly. However, he should start by getting a compression test
done. It's something that can be easily done at home, if you buy a gauge.

Subject: Blue smoke
Was driving my friends 95 A6 and out of no where blue smoke started coming out of the exhaust. Oil level is fine. Car seemed a bit sluggish. Any ideas? Thanks.
