T44 Avant Headliner Options

A decent Auto upholstery shop is the way to go. Due to the Avant you have
the easy option to get the headliner out with glass intact! I did this on
my 89 SAAB ~ 8 years ago and it still looks great.

Depending on where you are recertification on a motor is not too bad. BTDT
in Colorado with the LT1Q. Turns out the head guy at the certification
place is a bit of an german car fan. He (and the crew) were genuinely
interested in the insanity of putting an LT1 into a 5KTQ body. They ignored
that the LT1 computer complained about no speed sensor.

Cheers

Subject: T44 Avant Headliner Options

I'm gathering the final bits for the reanimation of the old 5kCSQA .

The original plan was to turn the car into a V8Q Avant . but hearing the
difficulties of recertifying a car with a new engine these days, I'm just
going to see if I can fit an MC-2 and be done with it. I go back and forth
between installing the brand new 5-speed transmission I have in a box and
the used 6-speed I had slated to go in the V8 Avant . it sounds as though
the used 6-gang is worth more than a brand new 5-speed, so I may stick with
5 gears.

The unfortunate thing is that even with sitting in the garage all these
years the headliner has detached. I wanted to find out what options I might
have for a replacement. I'd really like to get something solid like the
headliner on the urq, but I don't know if anything like that was available
for the T44 Avant. I'll appreciate hearing what sort of options folks have
found out there.

TIA!
Steve Buchholz
