Taking it to the shop they'll charge you $75/hour to diagnosis.
Since your car is newer than 1995, you can spend that $75 on an
OBD-II scanner and D-I-Y. I got one of these:

That will give you the codes and pinpoint a sensor that may be
misbehaving.  If you can't afford the $75, then take it to one
of the national auto parts chains that'll scan the codes for
free (in the hope you'll buy the parts you need from them).
