You should be able to do it by just undoing the four dash screws (under 
covers on the ends) and pulling it back "a few" inches.  It's an awful 
job, of course.  You have to undo all the clips holding the big black 
plastic plenum thing together and half of them can't be seen...

Here's a poor quality picture of the plenum removed, but still in the 
same orientation as when installed.  The heater core is outlined in green.
