you can also try a flat blade screwdriver - get it under the bolt
head, and twist the handle / lever the head up w/ the driver blade -
to help back it out.

> OK, I'm now at the stage of trying to take the plug out.  It just turns.  Other than turning and pulling at the same time, are there any tricks to use?  I'm thinking of getting a large set of pliers tomorrow, so I can leverage.  Not much to hook onto, though.
