I used to have a gray market 83 5000 turbo with a metric cluster. No
big deal, you get used to it, although calculating fuel economy in your
head is one step more complex.

When I bought it I got a letter from the state saying they wanted me to
bring it in so they could look at it, might have been something to do
with the VIN starting "WAUZZZ".

Now, saying that makes me think I could check for US DOT legality by
taking the VIN to the local DMV office and having them run it to see if
they'd let me register it.

Louis-Alain, would you be able to forward the VIN to me?
