Putting your hands on the tie rod ends while someone else turns the steering (careful not to get arms and fingers in harms way) usually will give tell-tale vibration from the offending joint.

The A6 doesn't have a strut bearing -- it doesn't have a "strut" as
the front suspension isn't a MacPherson strut design. The top of the
shock absorber isn't an axis of steering rotation. Suspension creaks
on Audi's 4-link virtual-geometry suspension cars are usually due to
worn tie rod ends, control arm arm bushings, or sway bar bushings.

Hi folks,
Well, finally figured out what was wrong. My friend and I took a look
and he pointed out that the tie rod end had play in it hence all the
noises. So much for cheap parts made in China. Anyway, bought another
pair which were OEM. Replaced the squeaky one and all the noise was
gone.
Oh yeah, I'm staying away from cheap parts. You pay for what you get.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
