I just thought of something.  The vacuum advance on the dizzy might be 
bad.  You have a timing light so it's easy to test - disconnect and plug 
its line.  Start engine, hook up timing light and observe normal idle 
timing mark.  Apply vacuum through extra hose, observe timing, which 
should advance steadily with more vacuum.
You might want to buy a manual vacuum-making tool, alternatively you 
could apply vacuum, um, orally.
Under sudden heavy load the advance gets hit pretty quickly with vacuum 
to advance the ignition timing.
