Audiophiles are a strange breed altogether. (i'm an EE and of course love
great audio gear...but in turn i recognize the 300 dollar yamaha surround
sound will meet my needs even though i'm used to running the 1200-3000
dollar surround amp...) Speakers make a big difference to sound
quality..but at a certain point gains are fairly lmited based on
economics..it's more about research and finding the pieces to make your
system sound great. Most listeners enjoy standard audio fair.... only a
select few will know the difference bettween great gear and good gear....
but there ar e lot of people who think they can hear the nuances (another
speaker brand lol.) My fav semi epxensive piece is my subwoofer... 200
watts of power into two 8" drivers. <1000 dollars... and peaks at 800 watts
(that's headroom).
So: get decent gear and be happy... and those that can tell the diff
between 320 sample and 256 sample...are a little more arcane (another audio
co).
Huw's gear/pricing is what great gear for good price will getcha.
cheers,
