And the corollary : it's always ignition...

There was this hilarious story from my idol, John Philips of Car and Driver,
about the C/D guys building a Lotus Seven kit car themselves. When the
engine wouldn't start, they began re-indexing the cam, check flow of the
fuel pump, double-check the gas tank pick-up tube, then dismantle
carburetors and re-jetting them, only to discover that someone (they never
revealed who was the culprit) installed the distributor 180 degrees off...

"It's always ignition" is now my mantra. :-)
