It should be screwed into the side of the battery box.
Or, better, get a nice 2 gauge battery ground strap, ~ 18-24", and run
it from the battery neg post to a tranny bolt. Then get a "lug to lug"
cable, again nice and heavy, and run it from a good engine ground
(tranny, engine mount bracket, etc.) to a good connection on the body.
The first one gives you a great starter and alternator ground path. The
second is for "everything else".
Keep in mind that my website might be very useful for you, since the
basic car that much of it (the left side of the dropdowns) is all about
an '82 cgt.
