Electrical Problem '82 CGT

I checked my local Radio Shack. The sell a twin pack of Deoxit cleaner and
"Gold" for $14.95.

Didn't think a low pressure blast with walnut shells would hurt it. My
thinking is colored by my Scirocco, when I pulled the fuse box the rear was
entirely green. At the time (8-9 years ago) I went to a parts site with
interchange info. I found that VW Cabriolets (up to about '92) used the same
box. So, I did the easy thing and went to a junk yard.

Tomorrow will bring another experiment. The battery I put in was used and
my charger read that it took a full charge. But, I wonder. I think I will
try some jumper cables. That doesn't seem to explain some interior lights,
and nothing else.

Bead blasting would be the LAST thing I'd recommend. In most cases just
disconnecting and reconnecting the connectors should rejuvenate the
contacts. Contact enhancer like DeoxIT would be the next step (I've seen DeoxIT @
Radio Shack). Dielectric grease can be used to minimize oxidation in
places where moisture may be a problem. Anything more aggressive can damage the
contact surface and create more problems than it solves.
