Cleaning EGR Valve

An EGR valve is two separate chambers separated by a diaphragm. Spraying into the vacuum port will get you nowhere expect possibly destroying the diaphragm depending on the chemicals used. You'll need to take it off and most likely scrape the carbon buildup with picks and screwdrivers followed by some chemical help. You'll also want to clean whatever it attaches to (I've never seen a type 44 with EGR).
Exactly what car and engine are we talking about here?
