My only concern, and yes I could weld in nuts, is that it is a high
safety concern attachment. Other than getting that right (and, yes
hacking out the center stuff), it's just a matter of a big fat red and
brown wire to the seat. It's on my list, I HATE the manual seats in my
new car, not because they are manual, but because the positions
available are all painful.

I sold the manual seat interior out of a wrecked 80Q I parted out a
decade ago, and I included the center support with plenty of steel to
work with, marked both sides and included pre-hackery photos to help
with the install. I think it went well.
