Advanced Discount Auto Parts rents a tool-kit for about $120 that includes the tool you need to do the job without ripping the little tie-rod rubber boot.

They also rent a tool-kit that can be used to install and revove control arm bushings (Audi 4KQ/VW QSW type) with an ease.
BTW, you get all your money back as long as you return the rental tools within 30 or 60 days.
