squeaking noise on '88 80Q

The "warbling" noise is caused by the timing belt being too tight. Try
loosening it a touch, and it should go away. I've heard of dealer techs
using a technique where the water pump is installed slightly loose, and the
belt slightly tight. Then start the engine, and use a brass drift and hammer
to loosen the belt a bit at a time until the noise goes away. Then tighten
the bolts on the water pump the rest of the way.

I've never had the guts to try that.

The clicking might be a lifter, or perhaps the vacuum pump. You can test the
latter theory by removing the push rod for the pump and see if it still
makes noise.
