The mystery is still a mystery. AAA dropped the car off at the local shop.
The mechanic went out with the key and -- yes -- the car started right up!
F'n Audis.
They did check the ECU? under the hood - no water damage, no frayed/gnawed
wires, no smell of burnt wiring. So, it's good to go (until the next time it
won't start).
While in the shop, I had them replace the 2 driver's side oxygen sensors.
