A/C 2001 A6

Only if very low. Even a perfect system leaks a little over time.... So the time since A/C service is critical information. But the symptoms are classic for a system needing an ounce or two or four of R-134a. Newer "freon" systems are more finicky as far as correct levels versus R-12. More airflow means the system efficiency goes up... Which is the classic symptom of slightly low charge. Of course Audi decided not to add all of the ports to make it easy to verify by a shade tree mechanic.

Low charge? Don't these shut off if the charge is low?

I know I have read about this before but I can't find it anywhere. My ac
in my 2001 a6 is turning on Econ mode all by itself. Eventually if I am
on the interstate driving or something it will stay on and if I have
been driving for a while without stoping at idle it will stay on but
just starting the car and in stop and go traffic it turns off. Wouldn't
be too bad but the wife has been driving it and she is 6 months pregnant
and you don't mess with a pregnant lady... Lol. Any clues on where to
look?
