Hi all,

This is regarding the 1.8t, like AMB, AWM, etc..

A friend/customer just decided to do his own T-belt R&R.. Maybe he's daring
or maybe he though $200 wasnt a good enough deal to have me do it.
Regardless, if it wasnt for me being his personal helpline... oh nevermind I
dont mean to gripe, im posting to be helpful.

other minor issues happen but the main sticking points that would be good to
type for helping others in the future are broken down concisely as possible
to these two..

One: When threading the belt over the pulleys' etc. I find it appropriate
to, set the Camshaft 1/2 tooth clockwise of the timing mark and the
Crankshaft 1/2 tooth counter-clockwise of the timing mark(s). I also, before
removing the original belt, when everything is TDC, place 3 paint marks from
the crank gear *teeth to the plate* holding the front main seal, for
reference.. By having the teeth slightly off as described above, *when
tension gets set*, timing is brought together perfect.

Two: Install the hydraulic tensioner AFTER the belt is installed.. Otherwise
youre likely to be a frustrated mess that hopefully has a good friend to
calm you down... Hold tension on the belt, while placing the tensioner.
once in place you should be able to hold the tensioner alone while you get
the bolts started. By that time everything should be smooth sailing.

HTH someone!

-Brian
