Broken odo and bouncy needle report

Hi Gang,
I seem to have closure on this now! To recap I lost my odo a month or two back. Ordered a new gear and while waiting sourced a replacement cluster which worked fine except for bouncy speedo syndrome.
Keen to learn more I tried swapping the rear hinge down board - no improvement. However then I thought I might just swap the speedo from the replacement (bouncy) cluster into my original cluster. - Hey presto no bouncy needle. So it seems to be that the cause was either the main circuit board or just mucky connections where the 4 pins from the speedo slide into their sprung female sockets.
So after a 100 or so miles I'm leaving things that way, my original speedo fitted with replacment gear sits on a shelf for now waiting for the day it's needed.
Incidentally bouncy needle also coincided with/caused/conspired with cruise control inop and gearbox speed related interlocks failing, (e.g. not able to shift in or out of neutral on the move unless with foot on brake).
Cheers Rob.
