its still a good summary for 90% of the a/s tires out there.
And in my case its not what i've heard. Its what i've driven on, many quite recently (say, 5 years).
I agree that the WR is - and has been for some time - the best compromise by far.
Its also limited availability and last i checked, almost silly expensive. Fully twice the street price of the tires i suggested originally (e.g.: HTR whatevers). So under most circumstances i suggest having two sets of tires if you need real snow performance, or, conversely, real performance. e.g.: on a track, even well regarded, Z-rated, super-performance a/s (e.g.: michelin PS a/s - my vote as best overall of the bunch) dont perform and dont last.
So true a/s perf, without significant compromise, remains an elusive goal.
