I have a leak from my left drive axle (USA, driver's side) automatic
transmission, A4 (B6). Trying to replace the oil seal.
How do I pull the stub axle out??? (I've already removed the cv-joint /
drive axle).
According to the Bentley manual you turn the mounting bracket a bit and slip
it out between the body and the subframe, but it doesn't look possible.
These pictures show the problem:

No amount of turning seems to help.
Also when I reinsert the stub axle I can push it in so that the teeth
engage, but then the bracket stops about 1/4" from the tranny. I can push it
flush but it springs back. Is that normal?
Thanks for any answers,
