A failing CTS will not always throw a CEL on a VAG product. BTDT plenty of
times, in fact I have one in the shop right now. No CEL, but CTS code
present (Original black one) in ECU. '01 NB 1.8T, BTW. Wish I knew why they
are programmed that way, they should definately trigger the CEL for a
failing CTS, IMO.
However, John is definately dead on in regards to both use of the throttle
pedal and O2 sensors. Iv'e never seen one bad on an OBD2 without a code and
CEL.
For the answer to the question posted about what they should get, most of my
customers (that check) get 18-19 in town, 25-26 on the highway with the A6
2.8 30V (C5). Which is also what I got with the automatic V8Q.
