Ok, just did a little Googling and came up with this (or similar) in a couple of spots - ABS/traction control systems monitor
the air flow via the MAF as in input to determine whether to interrupt the power....

L-A, the throttle body is on the driver's side of the engine, the MAF on the passenger's side, so I don't think even I, with 10 thumbs,
could confuse them.... ;-)

Maybe you unplugged the electronic throttle instead of the MAF ? This one is
indeed part of the VSC (vehicle stability control, also called ESP) where it
will lower the power if wheelspin is detected. The MAF (mass air flow)
sensor has no role in the VSC, it only provides data to the ECU.
