I have had.....none of the above.

But i did have a 1995 C4 A6 2.8 auto - slow, solid, easy to work on, reliable.

I also had a 2000 S4 with the 2.7 mt6. Superb, over-built combination. Some complexity in forced air track, and, of course, if turbos were not treated well they can be a costly weak link.  Make sure that air suspension is solid or it will get costly fast.

"training roadster" is what?

mileage, condition and price all play a role.

I would likely go with the AR, but only if it really checks out, o is sufficiently stupid cheap that it doesn't matter.
