New to me S6 Avant - no start

I'd cut back and splice (home depot underground splice with shrink over 
over it), however that much corrosion probably comes from having a 
missing/clogged vent tube!  Best check the vent and the ground and bath 
the whole area in baking soda solution to sop up the acid!
