New to me S6 Avant - no start

Vittorio,
Replace it! VAG primary wiring has been an issue from mid 1980's through very late 1990's. In fact, VW recalled some early 1990's 16v engines because of this (even though the issues were across the board, the 16v was very sensitive to this). Poor quality wire and lack of wire to sheath adhesion, let alone the poor quality battery terminals used.

I replace the primary wiring, which I mean as "battery ground, engine/trans grounds, battery to starter, starter to alternator.". Use high quality, ropelay construction wire and redo everything. Go larger diameter than stock. If you need to borrow a crimp tool, let me know, but Harbor Freight has an hydraulic set for like $50.00.

Will we see you at winter driving school this year? I'll be at both NAAC events!
